View (from property/room) in Juyoh Hotel

I stayed for 2 weeks in the single Japanese-style room, CRAZY value for money in Tokyo! The room was perfect for one person, it is equipped with a fridge, lots of shelving space (you can store your luggage), a little table, and a small mirror as well. The window does open (love that) and aircon/dehumidifier/etc worked fine. The hotel is very well-organised, I won't be listing all facilities but the common spaces are clean and smart, the laudry area is at the top floor far from the rooms so you can wash&dry your clothes overnight without bothering anyone, and so is one set of showers (the gendered ones). Kitchen/etc is on the ground floor, but my floor had a microwave on the corridor, how convenient. Toilets are the Japanese kind, which I always appreciate. Staff was helpful and friendly. I didn't have the chance to use it, but there's a café on the ground floor and they serve food throughout the day, very convenient! Location is really good especially for tourists who are out mostly during the day cause there aren't really any places open until late but there's a supermarket open until 11pm, a larger Lawson next door, plus a couple of combini. As many reviews pointed out, the place is not in front of station, but here are the pros: the station is a 10-15min walk depending on your speed, it's on the same main road and it's all flat, and the metro lines are very convenient and fast; there's a variety of buses very close, one is in front of the door and stops at Asakusa, Akihabara, and Ueno, nearby there's also a direct bus to Ikebukuro; you can walk to Asakusa in 20-30min, to Sumida Park in 15min, to the SkyTree area in 30min, and to Akihabara in about 50min. The area is actually very walkable, peaceful and green, with shrines, little shops, and the walk through Sumida Park is just gorgeous.

Restaurant/places to eat in Juyoh Hotel

I liked that it was tidy, clean and quiet. The bathroom had all the neccessary equipment to have a refreshing shower (they provided soap, shampoo and even conditioner and body lotion). Every floor has a microwave and a kettle, but if you'd like to have some serious meal, you could use the kitchen on the first floor with all the stuff you may need. You'll have also everything in the room you'll need, even if you stay a bit longer (I was there twice for 4 days): comfy bed with reading light and place to charge you electronic devices; under that a living room area with a fridge and a little sofa and a cupboard; and there is also a little desk with a chair. They provide you slippers, since it is not allowed to use your shoes in the room (normal in Japan). They also provide a towel, what you can change every day to a clean one. There is also a yukata, which is like a bathrobe. The windows have bugs-protection on it, so you can leave it open if you don't mind the sounds of the street. (It is not a loud district) The location was also wonderful: with a 8 min walk you can reach the metro station, which is one of the best way to travel in Tokyo. There is also a plenty of shopping opportunities such as Lawson or other convenience stores. If it rains, you can have an umbrella, what you return at the end of the day (no charge). They even have a hot bath for 400 yen (I didn't try it, but sounds lovely). The staff was really kind and they speak english.

Lobby or reception in Juyoh Hotel

Room as advertised - while seemingly small, was enough for the solo traveller, comfortable enough to rest, sort my luggage and engage in light reading after a long day out. I was not disturbed at all by noises from the neighbours and the futon provided was quite comfortable. Thick mattress that made for good rest. Facilities were good too, toilets on each floor, with shower facilities on specific floors that were not difficult to access. There's warm water from most handwashing taps, a welcome amenity during cold winter months. A Lawson 100 is right beside the hotel, open 24/7 for any food needs. The nearest station, Minami-Senju station, is around 700m walk away, a straight path, with two or three simple traffic crossings. The station brings you to places of interest like Ueno, Akihabara or Asakusa fairly easily, in less than 20 minutes. Near the station is a mall, a Denny's family restaurant (where I had breakfast and spent some time at on the morning returning home) and a McDonald's that opens till 2am.

Property building in Juyoh Hotel

The room I had was a little 3-tatami+ pocket and it was great. It's nothing fancy, no bells and whistles, just a spot to crash at night because you'll hardly be there otherwise (ideally). There's a mini fridge in each room, microwave and hot water on each floor, the showers were spaced out between a few floors (and the one I used on the 6th was very good). I noticed some comments talk about a smell in the room - that's just old Japanese building + tatami smell. I can't comment on the AC, I left my window open all night for fresh air and it was cool enough I never used it. Staff were pleasant and answered questions I had. There's a bus stop out front, a mini grocery store directly across the street, a larger grocery store just up the street, and Minami-senjyu stn is a 10-ish minute walk away. This is great if you're happy with minimalism for the price and don't mind the commute!

I was very happy at this hotel. It felt like a safe haven in the chaos of Tokyo. It is about a 15mins walk from the nearest train station. There are plenty of nearby convenience stores for food and a kitchen that allows you to cook meals. On my floor there was also a kettle and microwave which made it even more convenient for having hot drinks and food in my room. I also had a fridge in my room that I needed to switch on. I was right next to the showers and toilets so didn't need to walk far and never had to wait to use the facilities. There was also shampoo, conditioner and body wash in the shower and tea and coffee available in the foyer. The staff were extremely helpful even for my more silly queries. I personally found the Japanese style mattress comfortable. There was information available to help tourists find their way around Tokyo.

I absolutely loved the bathroom facilities. It was always empty, with a hairdryer, soap, shampoo, and conditioner provided. The room was simple, but very clean. Laundry facilities were available. It was an excellent value. The hotel is located in a great part of Tokyo, next to a bus stop that takes you to Tokyo Station. 15 mins from Asakusa/Sensjo-Ji. 10 mins walk to Hibiya line metro where you can reach many neighbourhoods in 30 mins.

Stayed in Japan for three months, seen like ten different hotels - this one was the best. It isn't as fancy as like APA or other chains and the shared bathrooms / showers might be off-putting to some people, but I can guarantee that you'll enjoy your stay. It's a nice little walk to Asakusa, there's a station nearby that'll being you to Akihabara in a few minutes, the shared facilities are nice and clean and in my like three week long stay I never ended up having to wait for my turn. But by far the best part are the incredibly charming and approachable staff and the shared kitchen to hang out in and meet other travellers. I can wholeheartedly recommend Juyoh Hotel and will be make it my main base of operations when visiting in 2026.

I recently stayed at this charming hotel and couldn’t have been happier with my choice. The location is unbeatable—just a five-minute walk from the historic city center, surrounded by quaint cafés, boutiques, and beautiful parks. It made exploring the sights effortless and enjoyable. The room itself was a true haven of comfort. It was spacious, spotlessly clean, and tastefully decorated, with soft lighting that created a cozy ambiance. The bed was exceptionally comfortable, with high-quality linens and just the right level of firmness— I slept like a dream every night. All in all, this hotel exceeded my expectations and I’ll definitely be back!

A very affordable place in one of the most exciting cities in the world! Don't miss the private bath! The hotel offers everything you need. The rooms are small and quite often, strangely, occupied by middle-aged men... Also, the area in Tokyo is probably not the best neighborhood. Nothing like in American cities, but you'll see homeless and very poor people, and it is actually quite dirty. Bathrooms were clean, rooms not so much. The staff were hit or miss, some amazing, others a little odd. Unfortunately, I only ate once in the restaurant next door, but it was amazing! Don't miss to try at least once! I wish they wouldn't have charged me for storing luggage after I stayed for a week, but not a big deal. Bus to Ueno & Asakusa directly from the front door. Very convenient.

This is probably the best value for money for your stay in Tokyo. My Japanese style room was very comfortable, and tatami still feels fresh, along with the provided nightwear. Staff are very helpful and friendly.
